Providence Place Mall is the world’s largest carpeted mall. Built in 1999 as a hub for commerce and socialization in the local community, the extravagant structure sits grandly in the heart of Downtown Providence. By collaging found local news footage from the mall's opening in 2000 with current footage of the mall, Palace depicts an eeriness, a vivid liminality, a certain sterile-ness in a space constructed for life yet so uninhabitable.
