This ongoing work, Mi Padre Desde, is a collage of digital and analog textures that span from 2004 to the present. By recycling archival home footage, interviews, documentation, and scripted moments surrounding the artist’s family in Spain, the work urges the viewer to inhabit both the micro and macro dimensions of familial connection. The smells, sounds, and textures of memory—some vivid and others deeply dissonant—reflect a sense of absence in identity and culture experienced by a second-generation immigrant in the United States.
